Fungi feed us and they also heal us. Genetically, they are closer to humans than plants and are responsible for everything from bread to beer to antibiotics. Certain varieties contain medicinal or antioxidant properties that have been championed by Eastern practices for more than 5,000 years.
Fungi also have a vital role to play in addressing our environmental crisis, thanks to their ability to sequester carbon and encourage biodiversity.
